SBG History

The phrase ‘Spoiled By GOD’ was coined by Shanta Smith in 1999.  It was an expression to explain what she felt about both specific and sequences of events in her life.  In September 2005 she was diagnosed with cancer.  While going through her chemotherapy treatments, she was embraced by the phrase ‘Spoiled By GOD’ once again.  But this time, with a little something more.  Inspired by the influences that such phrases as ‘What Would Jesus Do’ has had, Shanta decided to publicize her own.  She contacted a couple of her comrades with the idea to have the phrase printed and sold on t-shirts.  But, why stop there?  “The idea was to make a statement and promote the awareness of who GOD is and what He is doing for us personally in our lives.  All we have to do is acknowledge it”.  Her friends: Brian Swarn of Phenetix Urban Athletic Wear and Phenetix International, and Olu Sanya, owner and founder of Success Prep, both had personal experiences with starting companies of their own and where key in advising Shanta on how to turn her vision into a reality.

The first order of business was to trade mark the phrase to make it somewhat safe for use.  Then, she had to come up with just the right name to incorporate as the company’s official name.  On November 08, 2005 in a dorm room on the campus of The Georgia Institute of Technology, The SBG Group, LLC was created.  Today, The SBG Group is a merchandiser of Spoiled By GOD promotional goods as well as a website where others can both be inspired and share their own experiences to inspire others.

The Mission

The Mission of Spoiled By GOD is to revolutionize the thought process of Believers to reevaluate the way we view our daily circumstances and our relationship with GOD.  To enable Christians to see that hand of GOD at work in our lives, both through blessings and in trials.  It is the application of the Word of GOD- Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love GOD, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”  Spoiled By GOD is a revelation, a mind set, an attitude, and a very bold statement.

 Purpose

The Purpose of Spoiled By GOD is to spread the idea of its own new revelation to the world through the selling of its brand on merchandise including clothing, apparel, accessories and other promotional items.  The focus is not just in getting the phrase out, but doing so with integrity and style.  The merchandise itself is just as creative and unique as the statement which they bare, only those products that prove themselves to be of the best quality remain a part of The SBG Collection. SBG represents Christianity in a nontraditional and revolutionary way.  When the rest of world sees Christianity as lame religion of does and don’ts, Spoiled By GOD displays it as a holy lifestyle of privilege and choice.  It is just as a appealing as what the world offers, because we make this look good, and we make it cool, because it is.

 The Vision

The Vision of Spoiled By GOD is to be more than just the next fad.  It aspires to transform the minds and hearts of Christians and promote the dedication to a whole new attitude towards life.

 The Goal

The Goal of Spoiled By GOD is to captivate the Christian market and spread throughout.  It started small with showings at Christian Conferences and other events.  From there the goal is to establish a presence in other locations such as Christian book stores and other retail clothing stores.  The marketing plan leads to maintaining its own location preferably in a mall with a high volume of passerby traffic.  Ultimately the goal is to have an entire shopping center where Spoiled By GOD is the center of attraction.  SBG intends to be a national and global phrase: from the U.S. to every Christian country and community where it makes sense.
